Athletics

Riverside High School competes in the Burlington County Scholastic League (BCSL), sports association under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). The league consists of both public and non-public high schools covering Burlington County, Mercer County and Ocean County in central New Jersey. The school mascot is the Ram and the colors are maroon and white. Up until 1976, students from Delran Township - which partly encircles Riverside - used to attend the school. Because of its large student population at that time, in the high school grades, the school competed in Group III sports programs and was highly competitive with other large schools. Outside of its annual Thanksgiving Day game against Florence, the Rams also had ongoing rivalries with nearby Holy Cross high school, Cinnaminson Township high school, and Rancocas Valley Regional high school in Mount Holly. Since Delran Township attained its own high school and the high school grade population dropped at Riverside, the school mostly competes in Group I and some of those mentioned rivalries have stopped.

In 2003, the Riverside Marching Rams Band became Class 1 Champions in the EMBA marching circuit with their show "Color My World with Music." They also broke the top 3 in All-States group 1a Championships for USSBA in 2004 and 2005. They broke the top 10 in Cavalcade of Band championships in 2006 after being moved to Independence open. They finished 8th in Cavalcade of Band Championships in 2007 and 5th in group 1a Championships in USSBA the following year. In 2009, they broke their record for their highest score, 86.05, at USSBA Northern States group 1a championships, and won 6th place at Cavalcade of Bands Championships the next week.

The Marching Rams would win 3 first place, 2 second, and 3 third place trophies in 2010, winning both of their competitions in their annual double header. They took the music caption in every competition that year and finished 3rd in Independence A Cavalcade of Bands Championships. They jumped out of the gates in 2011 with their show "Flight", achieving one of the top scores in the USSBA in the opening week. They would take the music caption again in all regular performances this year. They finished 5th in State Championships, also becoming the highest scoring group 1a band in Burlington County. They Finished 6th in Nationals with a score of 91.838, the first time in school history they broke the 90's. They finished the regular competition season with 6 first place trophies and 1 second place.
